    Cannot access TF2 @ Steam

So, I guess the game is tied in with the Steam software. When I go to load the game it wants to connect to Steam and where I'm located at the moment wont let me access Steam.

So somebody tell me I'm left in the cold again, as usual.

I really do hate this place.

Is there a way to bypass this, or would the government give you free room and board if you did so?
    Apache

Where do you put the Bayonet?

Do you know if they have the firewall blocking the port traffic or is it the DNS not allowing the lookup. If it the DNS you can find an external DNS stateside or something and use that during your gameplay. If it's the a firewall, sorry

No, I can get around just for browsing by connecting through a proxy.

Well its two fold Doug, they dont necessarily have the ports blocked with the firewall. Thats how I was able to play Cod4, but its filtered with the meta tags. And like I said above, the proxy only works with web access not for connections like gaming servers.Would be like a 9000 ping if it connected that way.

The game programs themselves are looking for say like the steam website and their server address somehow is saying "games", and then the meta tag identifier sees what the game is looking for and filters that out. So I cant access Steam to even load the game. I assume thats how its catching it. But I could be wrong. I cant access Cains or Steam either one straigt up, unless I use the proxy, but its slow as molasses in Jan.

So, in light of all that, no one here plays any games. So lan is out of the question. I'm stuck with playing SP with what I have. I also cant load BF2. 2142 works for some reason but the other 2 wont. Dunno what the deal is. But it is what it is.

        Thanks for trying.

I can't seem to run TF2 from my work either. Oddly enough, I can join CSS servers...

if you have someone you trust outside the network, get them to setup a IP tunnel is free stuff on sourceforge.
which you can use to 'route' your data from your pc to them then to steam.
edit your etc\hosts file for the steam servers, if they use names

I use it for a few things to remap ports of programs that i dont want running on standard ports, but you cant change.

I'm not insane. I'm just overwhelming!
