How different would TF2 be with team damage?

Alot of games allow you to turn team damage off. And there is obviously no team damage in TF2.

Do you think having team damage would hurt the game?

I think some classes would definatly suffer, such as the heavy who is more of a sprayer.

I think Payload style maps would be really hard for the pushing team though.

But I think it might be something that makes people think just a wee bit more before simpy jumping in.

    Thoughts?

I think this is probably the one game out there where FF on will completely ruin the experience. The reason? Spy checks. You can no longer check for spies, so they will run completely rampant and ruin the experience for everyone else.

Agreed about the spys. Demoman and pyro would be very ineffective as they get a lot of collateral damage. Engie SG fire would take out anyone between the gun and target.

Probably the only class unaffected would be Medic.

I had the same thought as Rand. Or was that Duke?

Yea, this topic came up in the TF2 Steam forums a while back, and even the ones that would like to try FF find that there are drawbacks galore to the experience.

Think of this one - you're a Medic healing a Heavy, ready to enter the base door and deploy that 100% Uber, when a Sniper shoots an errant arrow and kills you

Another reason - we would be constantly kicking griefers who go Pyro and FF spray every teammate that emerges from spawn. I saw this crap happen on the old ET server, so it ruins a game in a hurry, even if the purists wouldn't mind trying FF every now and then.

If there was team damage, I could no longer play, for people would just kill me. Have you any idea how pissed my friends get when we're playing l4d lol xD
