I was stuck in a hotel with a marginal internet connection last night so I decided to continue the SP campaign and every time it started up I got CTD? Has anyone else had any issues with this?

My best guess is that because they were pushing a small patch last night, your PC's something got confused by something that caused a something failure.
By the way, the standard game shortcut loads the updater BFBC2Updater.exe. Depending on your goal, you can bypass that and run BFBC2Game.exe (same directory).
