    Join time

    Does it take anyone else forever to join? My husband is in a few minutes before me, sometimes longer. There's times that mcom's have been destroyed before I can get it. Also, I'm starting to freeze up a lot. If something gets blown up besides me, it takes forever to get away from it. I can't move, I can't do anything. Here is my system.

    CPU: AMD Athlon?II X2 245 Dual-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology
    Motherboard: Asus M4A78L-M AMD 760G Chipset DDR2/1066 mATX w/ Integrated ATI Radeon HD3000 Video, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA RAID, 1 Gen2 PCIe, 1 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI
    Memory: 2GB (1GBx2) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory
    Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express DVI-I & TVO

    I think there was another posting on similar issues... and forcing it to use previous/earlier verison of directx was a huge improvement if I remember correctly.

      So it looks as if I'm not the only one with this problem and it seems to be a pretty big problem to the point of their being a specific update for it. I did get it but screwed up I got the 64 instead of 32. The game wouldn't even start. Anyways, hubby fixed it and went into the server for a min. I'll check it out more tomorrow.

        It's all the ATi, it's a game bug. Just look at how long it takes Skud to join a game. I start on Isla, get to mCom, plant, blow it up and skud hasn't even joined yet. So much for squadmates!

          HA... But Skud will revive you when he spawns on you and you get toasted. lol

          I had the same issue of slow join, but lately has been doing great. And no, I don't have an answer, as i'm running the same versions in software as when i was joining and finding an MCOM already taken or destroyed.

            Yeah, it works out ok that way. I get to spawn at the mcomm and don't have to run all that way...I'll let the young ones do the menial tasks. Plus it gives me a little time to get a beverage or catch up on my reading.

              For anyone else w/ the same problems running Win 7/Vista, it's a driver issue. I had driver 8 something and I jumped all the way to 10 something. I posted the link in another post but here it is again.

                I have the same problem, also with a recent-model ATI card. The fixes didn't work for me.

                I, of course, blame EA.

                    Rand I know you probably did it but I'm going to ask anyways- Did you get rid of ALL the previous drivers before installing the new one?

                      I did, but this link seemed to be to a new hotfix I hadn't tried. It works, but I may roll it back because it now seems very laggy. I can join as soon as everyone else, but I think I'm in a period of lag that lasts at least as long as the time I had to wait to get in.

                        I had the same issue. I fixed mine by going back to Nvidia.

                              I have always had a Nvidia up until this new computer. The card was a good one and it was included in the price. I never thought to check to see what games would work and what wouldn't.. haha

                              I would recommend Nvidia to anyone else
