Important Fix: Stuck at 'Preparing to Launch...'

Hey all,

Yesterday when I bought and downloaded cod4, it said it was 100% - Ready on the status in the 'my games' in steam. When I clicked launch, the little window with 'preparing to launch call of duty 4: modern warfare' would come up and nothing would happen, even after like 5 minutes,..... so I searched around on the intrawebs and apparently other peoples were having this problem too. If you run into this the steps to fix are:

1) Right click on cod4 in the my games and go to properties
2) Go to Local Files Tab
3) Click verifty integrity of game cache

After I did this it also had to install the directx and update punkbuster automatically, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it.... anyways it worked!

I've had similar problems loads of times. It seems like sometimes while games are updating, they just stop. It stays at "updating" with a percentage, but no download speed. The only way to get it going is to verify the game cache. It picks up from where it left off and continues downloading.
