    Anti-virus

An informal poll to see who uses what AV. If you use an AV, but won't use it in the future for some reason, and little warning would be appreciated.

[EDIT] - Added an option for "None" for you. MCA

Currently using PCcillin, but I think I'm going to dump it when it expires next month. It is just becoming bloatware. It works okay, but it's getting to big, to many features, which I turn most all of them off, but it's memory footprint is still getting to big.

      I don't use any.

It's hard out here without a raincoat, but I soldier on.

I can't sacrifice any CPU time to an AV app.

norton because i get it for free through my school, and for a while they made us use it to get onto the school's network (enough complaining from people stopped it from being required),

We use Norton AV at work. I'm not real crazy about it either.

We feel for you paceman....no one deserves that sort of punishment

I'm a vote for no AV. Just like MCA, I loathe having a big, bloated background app that generally slows things down and eats precious CPU cycles. I'm just extra careful, use Firefox and block as much as is necessary to keep myself virus-free. Been going on 6 years now without an issue *knock on wood*

Running sans AV is not for everyone, but for those who dare, good choice to you and good luck

Technically I use Norton, but if you use any kind of auto protection it kills gaming.
I assume this is in respnnse to my virus, if that is really what it was it's hard to distinguish the line between virus and malware sometimes. That's why I just reformatted. I spend far less time just backing up occasionally and reformatting than I would in prevention. I keep my stuff organized anyways.
It's been a few years since I have had a problem.
I will warn you, if you don't use protection make sure that you back up regularly there are viruses that eat picture, movie, and music files for breakfast. I had one of those a few years back. This is only my second infection.

Anti virus is not needed if your computer savvy, and you know what to look for, and what not to DL. However if you have the computing capacity I would recommend for the average user to have some form of protection, the key bit is removal software/quarantine software.

Kaspersky, its off most of the time just mainly because we got a copy at work for free other then that i don't go with anti virus. I would find it interesting anyway if someone managed to get a virus on my pc without anti virus anyways

I use Symantec Anti-Virus, which I think is actually Norton Anti-Virus, released under the Symantec name.
