    EA vs Valve.

I know we have discussed this before but here is an interesting read on the possibility of BF3 not being on Steam. I still say that if it's not on Steam I will buy a hard copy instead, just to stick it to the man.

Same, it's steam or hard copy. Screw Origin, even if its revealed it would be cheaper there.

I remember everyone hated steam a while back. Maybe Origin will become useful later on.

I downloaded Origin and found bc2 was in my owned games available for download (No Vietnam though). Just not much willingness to dl another copy, then redo all those settings, so I pass for now.

But as it is now, I also will go with hard copy if Steam isnt available.

Steam sales aside I will still always much rather have the disc.

Sorry to disappoint, but you know there is very large possibility that you will still have to download, register, and use Origin in order to play BF3 online.

If this were to happen I would be highly irritated.

Hmm. sounds like it might be like MWfail. Had to have steam.

It wont bother me that much. But sounds like that might be the case.

Here is another rumor suggesting that Steam will not have the game.

While it adds fuel to the fire, I would take what a Gamestop exec takes with a massive hill of salt, given he's going to have a vested interest in a) selling physical copies, and b) selling digital copies via their new digital distribution service. Bad-mouthing Steam seems like a good way to go to achieve his business goals here.

Unless Steam makes more of their own games I can see that company being more and more squeezed out of the AAA game market, and eventually become a reservoir for cheap indie games. Major game retailers and game developers themselves are going to keep stealing market share until Steam goes the way of Netscape. The only chance they have in the long run is to create their own hit games to keep them relevant.

Aside from the fact that Valve has created/owns the Half-Life, Portal, CS, and TF series, I think they'll still do pretty well, especially if/when these other game companies see some backlash. I don't know how many people will support Origin, for example--even if forced, someone will try to find ways around it.

Anyway, Valve's titles alone contain 4 of the probably 20 best PC games ever made, and that's not bad.
