I know you're just trying to needle Apache, but I can't resist.

Counter Strike is made for players with steady, accurate aim who enjoy full contact tactical situations. Since Global Offensive is derived from Counter Strike , there weren't huge development costs to cover. They focused on making a better Counter Strike game.

Valve's games are always priced for a reasonable profit, i.e. Portal, Half-life. This is a very different goal than max-price companies like EA or Activision.
