The worst build I have ever had

OK so I buy some ram from newegg......turns out one stick was bad! Had to RMA it.....Then the Zalman cpu cooler that zalman said would work on my asus maximus did not fit due to some fins around the cpu area.....Then the 2 hd I bought @ a local store.....after installing them in Raid 0 I get a drive that is failing in my array.....So now i have to take back the 2 drives and replace them and reinstall windows!!! All i wanna do is play some COD! looks like it may be a few days before up up and running

That's not good. I can't remember the last time i've had that much faulty hardware at once.

Hopefully you used up all your bad luck and the new parts will work out much better.

Oh man that really sucks, I second what Duke said.

I saw in your list of parts you had the Zalman 9500a and Asus maximus forumla X38. They should work, here's a pic of Painkiller's mobo with the fan attached:

Usually Zalman is pretty good with their fit list.

I did some serious research when I pieced mine together, but there's no way to effectively deal with DOA or failing HDs.
What HDs did you settle on ? Brand doesn't really matter, but N.I.B. drives failing is just really rare.
You sure you didn't accidentally click on the Newegg Combo deal and get a free box of gremlins with that purchase ??

Which way do you have your Zalman Facing? Maybe you could rotate it if there is any interference. In your list you say you have the 9500 which is a bit smaller then the 9700. Which one do you have?

Mannn, that's nothing that a hacksaw, a high speed dremel, a blow torch and a hand chisel wouldn't fix or scrape out of the way !!

JUST BE SURE TO WEAR EYE PROTECTION when you tear into it. And watch those fingers ... one wrong swing and you could damage a knuckle !! Be sure and post pics of the process too.

Ohh, and wash off the board to make sure no metal flakes get lost in there ... try the dishwasher on a gentle cycle.
