I would go with one of these Sony's, They work great and the best thing is they save straight to MPEG and they also work as cameras for taking still photos.

The DCR-SR200 is the newer model and it takes higher resolution stills

Here is the Sony Page on it, Notice it takes DVD quality video and it's as close to HighDef as you can get.

thanks for the links, ill look into them

Sony is selling the DCR-SR200 for $800 and FotoSpirit is selling it for $470?
Whats the catch? or is Sony just greedy..

that's Sony's MSRP. Sony doesn't discount there products, some retailers do.

I've got a JVC with a 30 gig hard drive in it. It is about the size of three packs of cigarettes (100's or long cigarettes..3 packs stacked on each other) and has dvd-ready software to plug the device into your computer and burn directly to DVD with narration and music overlay options. If this is something like you want let me know and I'll give you more info. I think it is just under 400 dollars... maybe just over 400..

The Sony comes with DVD direct software also, pretty nice actually, if you have a USB dvd you can hook it directly up to the Camcorder and hit the button and poof instant dvd.

The main reason I went with the Sony over the JVC is simple the Sony has higher picture resolutions with the DCR-SR200 Shoots 530 lines of Resolution, a dvd has 570 lines of resolution, if you want higher quality you have to go High Def.
