I seem to remember a dam in a previous BF game. Was that BC2? Or BF2?

BF2. The Kubra Dam. I hated that map, only because everyone was so spread out, and there was AA everywhere, making flying a nightmare.

            That be the one.

Just looking through that wiki. Man, BF2 had so many great vanilla maps. What went wrong with BF3?

This is a good thing. By the end of the lifetime of BF2 pilots got too good, and DICE kept tweaking AA so it wasn't effective for most of the game's run. I hope they have a good balance this time around.

I agree the Pilots were way too good. You could almost never shoot one down. I was a bad pilot and I lived for a while. The only positive were people could only drop one set of bombs at a time and you and to be able to glide over the runway to get more ammo.

Gawd I had blocked this from my mind! The AA in BF2 was so horrible and the jets were way OP...

The tanks did more damage to the planes than the AA did. The tanks were a one shot kill, when you managed to hit them. That's why Karkand and other Infantry Only maps were my favorites.

A tank can't kill a good pilot, only the bad ones. The good ones don't fly at any kind of angle a tank could reach, and if they also had a good co-pilot their missiles were the only things on the battlefield that could give me concern while tanking. The tank guided missile option of BF3 helped quite a lot against aircraft but it makes tanks OP too, so I'd actually rather they didn't have it this time. I was using the missile/shell combo against enemy armor long before I saw anyone else use it, and it was just way too good not to use that setup.

Oh--I also feared the bloody arty strikes. I swear I was wearing a magnet. I got blown up by a random arty shell more times that I care to remember, while watching arty used on enemy tanks plink off the thing without scratching the paint.
