Thanks, from us Vista users, for the heads up. I'm not sure if I'm going to jump on this update just yet until I do a little more research on it. My Vista (without sp1) runs great. I complained about it and the machine sat on a shelf for a year before I finally had to plug it up due to the amount of customers I have that started sending them in for repairs. I just HAD to start playing with it...
It sucked at first but when I filled it with DDR2 and a custom graphics card.. this thing performs a LOT better than I had initially anticipated. Don't be scared of it as long as you go head and bump up the memory from the stock purchase. You'll actually be surprised at the performance with a few tweaks here and there.
I have even TRIED to get spyware on it just to see how hard it is to remove, and it seems there is not a whole lot out there that you can get that you don't have to actually Download and Install it yourself. MS did a pretty good job with caulking up the security vulnerabilities on this one and I'm quite surprised. Even the anti-phishing filter is at least three times that of XP with the SP upgrades and 3rd party software packages. My mom sent me a chain email the other day and I got a warning and was advised not to open the mail in outlook express.
Be your own judge, but I was one of these people:

But as it turns out, I am quite pleased once you learn your way around the operating system. I think that was the main issue people were having...find their way around and where things USED to be are not found in the same place. I do have a few complaints, but mostly the chief complaints are because of the upped security of the system.

Well, I was mildly mulling over the idea of moving over to Vista 64 once SP1 hit, but I might just keep waiting. Again, unless Vista is a clear upgrade over XP, it's not worth the money

Thx for the info... I'm considering it, myself. I'll give it a day or a week maybe. Your research sure is helpful.
