Sid Meier

I've posted here before that I wish more game companies would just remake some of their best old games. Sid Meier seems to be on the same page with me in the whole "Let's not reinvent the wheel" thing. In the last couple years he's had his name on Civ 4 and remakes of Pirates and Railroads - all of which are great games, then and now. Now I'll get another of my old favorites from him this fall - Colonization. The game is about taking a boat with 1 pilgrim and a soldier on it and goes through a revolutionary war. It wont be much in the way of action, just good ol' turn based stategy. God love him!

Yeah, I saw that they were making an update. Colonization is awesome, and in my opinion it's much better than Civ.

Oh I loved Colonization. That's good to hear. Now if someone would just do MASTER OF FRICKIN MAGIC ALREADY!!! ARRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I'm more leary of a Master of Magic remake. Unless it's done RIGHT, it's going to suck because it won't match the original. Better to leave it be unless at least some of the original programmers are on the job for quality control.

Civ4 is great, but Sid Meier's Railroads was a piece of crap. Not only was it one of the most buggy games I've ever played, with nil technical support, it was dumbed down so much it's absolutely boring after a couple of hours. Once you get by the pretty graphics, there's nothing there.

Sid Meier ought to be ashamed for allowing his name on that piece of worthless software.

BTW, I loved MoM as well. But I'm with Rand on this one. If they aren't gonna spend the resources to do it right, just leave it be.

Today I got a free copy of Colonization in my PC Gamer magazine. It's still addictive.
