Yup. You DO have to be smart to be a criminal... Or at least not a complete moron.

Oh yes, to be a truly successful criminal you have to be very smart. At least as smart as, or smarter than law enforcement.

I'm not sure he was seriously trying to get change for it.

And if he did, I think mental condition factors in over stupidity.

To me it seems this whole thing was mean as a joke, but he ended up damaging store property which got him in trouble.

I imagine the counterfeiting wouldn't have been a big deal since the note isn't believable as currency, but he screwed up and really pissed people off.

Uh, he got mad when they wouldn't make change for him and damaged property. I'd say he was trying to get change for a million. Now whether he believed it was real currency or not and whether he's the counterfeiter or no, I think are up for question.

And if you try to use any kind of counterfeit for legal tender, unless it's blue monopoly money, it's a big deal, and I'd expect a visit from local law enforcement, if not the feds.

He should be expecting a visit from the Secret Service, since counterfeiting falls under their jurisdiction.

                      What an idiot.

Perhaps you guys are right.... I don't know. The article says he got mad, but I have a hard time believing the anger wasn't just an act for attention or whatever. I guess I just can't seriously believe a guy would make a 1M note and expect it to be cashed, at a grocer store no less.

Then again, people out there can be genuinely stupid, so I shouldn't exclude it from the realm of possibility.

Does anyone remember the story of the dude who scanned a one dollar bill then printed up a bunch. He ended up going to a strip club and getting a bunch of lap dances. Well surprise surprise the strippers were pissed and called in the secret service who arrested him.
