everybody is talking about prestige... what actually is it? like does it do something special for you or something? please enlighten me.

I believe there are 10 levels of prestige.
Each time you are reset to zero level.
I.E. you lose ALL your perks, weapons, etc...
From what I can gather, it is what it is, prestige.

You get a little symbol by your name in the game scoreboard. A different symbol for each level of Prestige.A change of Pace.

It is not all about look at me, look at me. It's about being able to beat the game 10 times. CoD4 was boring that way. You reach level 55 and that's about it. All your XP from that point doesn't matter. XboX360 users get achievements along with the extra slots, and some say extra challenges. That being said, Prestige isn't for everyone. If you do not have the time to repeat the game 10 times then you might wanna stick to the flamethrower. So who's going prestige? People who can get there fast. As someone said

Reminds me of the good old days of playing Diablo I on BattleNet. There were 3 levels of the game and for each level you finished, you got a little dot beside your name. So it was "look at me", but beating the game on level 3 was pretty damn tough.
If it resets after level 10, then whats the point?[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
