Game crashes when adjusting graphics settings

Hello,
I have 2 related issues.
First,
In both Waw and COD2, if I try to adust any graphics settings that require me to hit the APPLY button (AA, etc) my game immediately crashes to my desktop and I cannot bring it back up.

Additionally, when our Open Warfare mod was recently installed on one of our servers, I get the same problem when I try to join the server with the mod on it....just crashes to my destkop. It was find before the mod.

I have a new machine with XP, 2G ram and a 9800GT with the newest driver.

Can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem. I had it set up and I went to drop the AA to 0 to see what it would do and it crashed every time. It also crashes when I try to change the resolution.

when you say you have a new machine what do you have?

I can run the mod in windowed mode. It will crash like normal and then pop right back up but then I cant change the brightness in windowed mode because it is then too dark while windowed.

Have you tried different graphics drivers? If you're using the latest, try an older set.

I haven't had a chance to look into it but here are my specs.

Vista Home Premium 64

Intel Centrino 2
Intel Core 2 Duo P8400
NVIDIA GeForce 9800m GTS W 512 MB
4 GB DDR3

I think I have some drivers from a month ago I'll look into new ones when I can.

Update.

I updated my video drivers to the latest one form teh Nvida site. Gateway aparently doesn't upgrade their site so I was under the impression that they were current. In me searching I also found that people were having this issue with their Xfi cards.

Really?! I'm running my X-Fi still but i don't seem to have this problem. However, i do seem to blue screen sometimes when leaving the game.

I have an xfi and have not had any problems at all.
