We had something similar happen at work with distribution lists, and that was NOT fun. They eventually shut down the Exchange servers for about an hour and scrubbed all the emails in the tree coming from the original email. Worst part it was mistake that someone sent it to a distribution list that went to everyone in the company somehow, along with the actual recipient.

Exchange is crap use postfix or sendmail.

I don't make the decisions at work, lol. Also not sure how it would affect our integration with State systems that we use and the way Remedy (ticketing/update/notification/other stuff system) takes and delivers updates and such.
