Abou this dropbox thing. So this replace the USB Flash drives?

Can dropbox access any folder? I have a few shared folders on my main PC that my HTPC has access to. I'd love for my GalaxyS to have access to these folders too.

It pretty much can, if you're talking about using your phone as a flash drive. The only downside is that unless you specifically download the file you want on your phone before you need it using dropbox, you won't have it if you get out of a cell or wifi range because unless previously downloaded and cached on your phone its not on the phone. Cloud computing if you will. It's mostly in the cloud.

You can probably just set up the dropbox to automatically recopy your shared folders on your PC. That's what I do, only with my documents. I use an xcopy script I wrote and then use the windows task scheduler manager. If you need help I can post mine.

But it's pretty nice because I have both of my PC's both automatically updating the Dropbox every few hours with their respective my docs, then if I'm on the other computer and I need something from the other one, it's in the dropbox on both. So basically it puts them together for me, and then I have it all on my phone.

Note you get a 2gb maximum unless you pay.

Also my other favorite app is Wolfram Alpha, it can do the most advanced calculus and give you step by step instructions. It pretty much got me through my Calc 2 class this semester because my prof was russian and didn't really know english

Dropbox and Xmarks are two of the most useful aps I have run across and they both have some kind of Droid app that I need to get around to getting.

That's a pity. I'm looking to access a few folders that contain a lot of gb's.

              Mind posting your script anyway?

                Dropbox script

                Code:
                xcopy C:\Users\Ben\Documents\* F:\BackupDocumentsDaily\%date:~10,4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:~7,2%\* /Y /F /S
                xcopy C:\Users\Ben\Documents\* C:\Users\Ben\"My Dropbox"\* /Y /F /S
You can ignore the first line if you don't need it. It backs up to my external hard drive with a date option so that every day it creates a new folder with the backed up files with the date of each day. So you get one for every day...so if you accidentally overwrite something you didn't mean to you can go back and find it. Obviously only use this if you have enough space.

The second line is for the dropbox.

Firstly make sure you change the paths to your paths like the drive letter and the username. Of course you know this

Then open up a notepad file, paste this in and save the file as backup.bat, it doesn't matter where you save it as long as you remember where you save it for the next step.

Go to the windows program "task scheduler"

I'm in windows 7 so the steps may be a little different if you aren't but it's pretty simple. Just find the 'create basic task' button, then go through the wizard, browsing to your .bat file. I have about 4 of these running daily, so it backs up 4 times every day. You gotta do it 4 times or however many times you want. For the 'action' just choose 'start a program' then browse to the .bat file. That could be the only thing you could mess up methinks

I just re read this thread as I'm trying to get my Thunderbolt up and running, I may actually be able to leave my itouch at home because this thing rocks.

I found an app that enhances the messaging abilities, handscent sms.

Agreed, so glad Xmarks was picked up by Lastpass. Although I dont find the Lastpass app for the iPhone to useful since its dependent on its builtin browser which is pretty lacking

Also another all time favorite of mine, but not sure if they make an Droid App is LogMeIn. Great service for remote controlling a PC from your phone.

LogMeIn makes LogMeIn ignition, think it's $30 though. If you're comfortable with it you can set up VNC or RDP with cheaper or free apps.

Oh and for a great time sink check out Pocket Legends. Runs on both iOS and Android platforms, its a fantasy based MMO put out by Spacetime Studios.

                            Nicely done and updated often!

Spacetime Studios is working on a follow MMO Sci-Fi based as well called Blackstar. It was originally being developed for the PC sometime ago for NCsoft but they drop it for what ever reason.

I'm loving this app guys, it allows for a quick reply to a text without unlocking the screen, now if I could only disable the default message indicator.
