    Spread sheet help

I don't make many spread sheets these day and I'm having trouble finding a simple formula. Its a budget sheet and I want to take the difference between the totals of the previous two months totals. I'm using Open Office Calc and I have tried using the sum function but I keep getting an error or the word NAME? in the box.

    use this

    =(celltotal2 - celltotal1)

so as an example i mocked up (in excel but the formulas are the same in open office)

Maybe you're goal is something more complex? This is for the difference between two cells:
      =B1-A1

Ahh thanks guys, I appreciate your time, I did want the net change between the two numbers so I guess looking through all those commands was a distraction and the simple subtraction was all I needed. Fromt he clip below you can see how it worked out and that i have how to make negative numbers red. This leads me to another question, what I want to do now is to make the color of that number change. If the total debts went down then I want the number to be black, is there a way to do this?

I was just taking a bit of a nap and it came to me, just multiply the answer by -1, This way a negative number, which is less debt, shows up black.
