If I wanted to try to overclock my i7 2600 could it be done? I know its not the K version but I think I read somewhere it could be overclocked its just not as easy.

I also want to overclock my evga nvidia 570 GPU as well. Want to get the most possible put of my rig.

type "over clock ......" into google. you'll get great links to articles that can explain it better than us im sure.

some of the info is way more in depth than you'll ever need. but there are places that have ran the tests etc, and pretty much will let you know what you can and can not get away with.

does this go for overclocking GPUs too?

BTW I trust the opinions here more than anyone else when it comes to gaming

Many GPU makers are sending there cards out with OC tools, just have to look around. Some cards will OC better then others.

Now go on those forums and see what people with your card are getting for OC and try to get there yourself.

What Duke said. Make sure you're finding information for your specific chip too. The Sandy Bridge chips that are locked are a bit different than other chips in terms of possible overclocking from what I've seen. You don't want to fry anything just trying random stuff that wouldn't have worked anyway.

Ya im not too sure about OCing the CPU. I havent had any lag whatsoever yet and Im not sure I want to risk damaging the cpu for a little extra speed. Might OC the GPU since there are controls for that instead of having to mess around with the bios and the voltage (which scares me the most lol)
