    Considering getting a LapTop

I've been shopping around for a Laptop that's probably between 300-400 dollars, trying to keep in in that dollar range.

But not that Celeron CPU, just a standard dual core processor probably.

I've been checking out those ACER's, DELLS, and HP's, at the local stores...any suggestions?

Nothing TOO flashy though, but nothing too crappy either.

    - Thanks

    T

Blogging, Wordpressing (Running Open office), MAYBE using photoshop or some picture editing software for picture cropping and editing lettering. That's it. Browsing the web of course, that's all I can think of for now.

<this might not be included, just the above is my MAIN priority...this is secondary>
MAYBE gaming...occasionally (but I don't game much anymore, you can tell me the LOW, I'm sure even some of the low end or mid range games can play the new Portal 2 or some Steam games? LOL)

Check out Dell Outlet. I bought a refurb there some years ago for a great price.

Will you been doing a lot of this word processing, blogging etc outside of your home?

For $300-400 dollars i doubt you'll be able to getting many games running on it. UNless of course your laptops are a heck of a lot cheaper across the pond. $300-400 would get you a very basic internet browser laptop here.

What i'm wondering is, would you be better off putting that money to upgrading your PC. Your money goes a lot futher in dektop hardware.

Okay, scratch the gaming ALtogether. lol

I'm actually using this laptop as a backup to my desktop in case it goes down, in a pinch.

It also needs to be able to run Java related applications that I need for my work-at-home job that requires a constantly running Java Applet(s).

Well on Newegg site all those ones seem to have XP installed on them. I assume you will want Windows 7.

I went to the outlet that Rand mentioned and found theses two in your price range. I would shop around there a bit and I'll bet you can find a nice one.

                      Less then $400

Here are some starting just above your price range.

                          Of course.

Really, they STILL have XP on them? Interesting.

That was only on Newegg, those links below to the outlets are all loaded with Windows 7 and should work great for your needs.
