The position of our couch would require the speakers to be way back over the nook and the hallway so it would be awkward. We also don't watch a lot of movies and up until our Bose 3 2 1 system died a month ago we were happy with that. Most of the time I would be watching the TV from the kitchen so I want something that would help me hear it clearly from that position.

      Not sold on LCD

I like the plasma screens much better than lcd or led backlit lcd's. Plasma have much better color reproduction, and contrast ratio's. As for the power consuption, that is no longre an issue as the newer plasmas consume no more power than a LCD. they also do not produce heat like the did serveral years ago. I have a 50' Samsung plasma and I have been very pleased with it for over 1.5 years. The only lcd type tv that even comes close to a plasma is the Sharp quattron. the blacks on those panels are very , very close to a plasma, much closer than a normal LCD. one thing you need to do with a plasma is to break it in. I down loaded an iso of a break-in disc and ran it non-stop on mine for almost 5 days and it really made a difference in the tv's image. It also reduced the light ghosting to none at all.

Thanks for all the input guys. I went with Best Buy and a 36 month %0 interest deal.

The big one fits nicely over the fireplace. It has a beautiful screen but the smart functions are slow and annoying, kind of like using my dads 10 year old computer. The wife hate the sound bar up on the mantle so I will move to the hutch when it arrives next week.

Monprice FTW! the mount was less then $20.00$ I ordered a bunch of cables and two mounts for far less then what the mounts alone would have cost in BB. The installation was easy and as you can see the wires I ran into the wall er at a perfect spot. I put an outlet that has built in surge protection as well as two data a coax and dual HDMI cables.

Duke, I cant believe you didnt prewire the walls. That was the first thing I told my builder. That and built in HDMI> FTW. I have a Denon receiver and polk sub and speakers in a 5.1 config. Rocks the windows.

I did pre-wire the walls. I just left it behind the drywall until I knew exactly where the TV would be. I even ran conduit for the HDMI and any other future needs.
