    Leap - The 3d Touch-Free Presentation Device

Check this out if you haven't already! Was featured on MacRumors.com

Might be interesting for presentations or other applications.
Works with Mac/Windows systems, sits on the desk and is about the footprint of an iPhone. 200x more accurate than kinect (even if a smaller area) and very quick latency. They are looking for more people to give an SDK out to to develop software for it and will give out free units to those who they select.

$70, can pre-order now for this December's release. Watch the interesting video on their site.

    I already pre-ordered mine!

I saw this a few days ago in a tech thread asking if Minority Report screens were on the way and this was mentioned. Crazy that it's only going to cost £70.

Time for a little update on the Leap, in case anyone wanted to know, they released the shipping date as May 13th for Pre-Orders and May 19th they will be available in Best Buy Stores for $85. New pre-orders are $79 I believe, so the early sign-ups maintain their $70 promised price. If you pre-ordered one, you can still update your quantity without them raising the per-unit price, which is good.

I for one can't wait to try this thing out or maybe design some sort of interface/gestures for it. Will likely be practicing the air-keyboard typing too, despite the lack of ergonomics. I have some plans for using this in our basement home theater setup with a sort of pull-over platform.

Anyone else excited over it or are you more skeptical?

Looks cool. I wonder how it will work in real world situations.

Not sure if I would use it enough. I think I might rather this .

Only because it can be used at distance.

Well there is a game which is being developed where you navigate a light orb in 3d through a course against a clock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxQ0-rEV4Xc

I saw this video in their forums of someone who had quickly wrote up a control interface to fly a drone with their one hand, which was quite impressive!

Also there were other videos where they use it to record the motions of the hand to record motions alongside a video for a motion theater (5d) seating platform.

Another one I've seen was mixing the Leap with the Oculus Rift neural interface to teach a robot arm to move just by thoughts.

It's slow to respond now, but I really think this has the potential to help out a new niche in the industry. Myself, I'll be looking into potential IT use with law enforcement squad cars or other departments I work with at a the city/county level. Not an official project, but it's worth some research!

You can see the other videos in the Leap Forums Video Thread here: https://forums.leapmotion.com/showth...Video-Database
