    microphone help?!

for some damned reason I cannot talk through teamspeak or steam friends.
On TS2, the green button doesnt even light up when inthe server. I have not changed TS2 settings or Mic settings since the last time i used TS2. I also cant hear anyone on TS2, nor does anyone elses green button light up! On steam friends i can transmit, but they cannot hear me, and I cannot hear them!!!! On steam friends there is the volume bar for transmit and receiving, and both move as if we talk, but i get nothing, nor do they.

im using a logitech USB mic (AK5370) and have an X-FI xtreme music sound card.

i just dont comprehend this absurd situation!!

    *edit*
i also would like to note that the mic is NOT muted, and the X-fi control panel and the windows volume control panel are synchronized, and i checked both. the microphone is enabled in device manager, and there isnt a driver issue on device manager.

Have you tested the mic in windows?

Like using windows recorder? I've seen some things mute the mic wrongly sometimes. Try loading the game and alt tab out and check the sound settings again.

no, i mean i can test them in game, and ill hear myself. i dont really use mic ingame except GMOD 10 or other source games.

i know well that windows is finicky with muting the mic, but for some reasoni cant hear my friend talking to me either, and i know his mic works. it happens on steam AND TS2.

I know you said the mic showed up fine in the device manager but make sure it is set as the default input device in control panel under sounds and settings. You may have to check the "Use only default devices box" to force it.

You said, "On TS2, the green button doesnt even light up when inthe server"

That would lead me to think its defaulting to the jacks on your card, instead of your USB mic. Some times unplugging a USB mic, or maybe it lost power briefly and it made windows default to the XFI xard for mic input.

Don't forget to check the "use default devices" box at the bottom. I was gonna tell to try this but since it worked in the game setup ....I just don't know
