    Normal temps for AMD 4170

My friend has put together his AMD machine and it seems to be doing well. Last night he asked my if his temp of 40 was OK. After I told him 40 was just fine he asked what a high temp would be. So what would be normal and high temps for a FX 4170 and do they have the built in ability to reduce the load at a certain temperature.

Tell him to run prime95 until his CPU temp stops rising. That will be his high temp.

The motherboard BIOS should have a section where you can set temperature thresholds to either throttle speeds or automatically power of the machine, but if you have appropriate cooling you should not have to rely on anything like that.
