I signed up for a half marathon, wish me luck.

A couple of years ago I had to start running on treadmills several time a week due an abnormal heartbeat. My doc told me to get my heart rate to 155 three times a week and try to do some kind of activity that requires movement. Well i was pretty good in keeping up with the treadmill routine even though it boring as hell. On March 3rd, while on a layover in Charlotte NC, I ran on some trails downtown, I knocked out 4 miles no problem and actually enjoyed it. The FO I was flying with ran a half marathon last spring and was able to give me some good advise, so I decided to start a training schedule and after getting to the 10 mile mark on my long run days I paid the registration fee, so wish me luck. I have found that I enjoy running very much, it is a great way to not only to get fit but is a great stress relief.

I signed up for the second annual Essex Junction Half marathon right here in my home town.

Here is the schedule I have been following, I'm on week 10 and after posting this I head out for a 13 mile run.

I've got arrythmia but I also have a low standing heart rate. I can't get my heart rate up high enough for stress tests by the treadmill. Glad you can--the nuclear stress test sucks. You can literally feel the stuff flowing through your body. *shudder*

I used to think stress test was a waste of time, until a couple of weeks ago when my father got one. Turns out he had to go for an angeo and then it turned out that he had 4 blockages. He did a quadruple bypass last week. Luckily we are near one of the best cardiac hospitals in the country (St. Francis). He just got discharged Thursday, needless to say, this father's day was extra special.

I did it! Just after creating this post I had a string of injuries which totally messed up my schedule. After a few visits to a physical therapist and some ibuprofen I was able to finish the 13.1 miles in 2:07:17. I'm pretty psyched.
