    It happened to me.
I got it replaced under warranty. It will sound like a very low pitch when off or on.
I did run mine for several months before I got my ass in gear and got it fixed.

Well they said a slight hum maybe normal, and basicly keep it in check.

        See if it gets worse...
Its actually quieter than i remember from this morning.

Their acceptable "slight hum" might mean that you shouldn't hear any hum from a 1 ft. distance. I've never heard any hum louder than my PS fan noise.

I'd probably want to be able to reliably reproduce the fault before returning it.

I paid for one to be sent, after making a claim. Forgot the wording but had to send my broken one back and they then credited my credit card.
This way I wasn't without a computer while it was sent.

My sound was for several months and only was turned off when I did the manual shut of to the PSU.

yea I know exactly what you mean Sirex. See if they will warranty it and create a file. Then order one and have it sent to you and send the other one back.
I couldn't read in the room without shutting off the PSU itself.

Sounds like one of the capacitors. Is this something new? Or something you've only just noticed?
