    Mounting a 2.5 in a 3.5....

I rummaged through my boxes of spare parts and i don't have a bracket for this. Does anyone know of any creative ways to mount this tiny drive in this huge case?

Just place it at the bottom of the case or behind the motherboard tray if there is room. I know a lot of people that attach Velcro to them and use that on the rear of the motherboard or some other area that is out of the way.

SSD's don't really need any specific mounting.

lol, velcro sounds great, I actually used a trimmed eraser to hold the HDD in place in my laptop.

The SSD drive caddies are always on sale somewhere. I bought probably 4 of them in the past year, as I prefer to mount mine properly.

Juneau .... Velcro ?? *shakes head* That's about as ghetto as a cardboard box for a build.

Be aware that their build quality varies tremendously. Some of the cheap $7 kits are all plastic with WOOD SCREWS to mount in the drive bay. If you've never had the pleasure of trying to use wood screws in a metal case, I would suggest not doing it !! It's as ghetto as using vel.. errr, nevermind.

Cain linked up what is typically the best one available for not a lotta cheese. Silverstone always makes quality components. Note that my plastic $7 cheapies aren't necessarily total junk - being plastic, it WILL flex when installing, but once its in place (with metal screws, dammit) then it could care less what material holds it in place.

Velcro? Well, it's good enough for the racks of spinning hard drives in Google's data centers.

Cardboard would be great! Except for the heat retention, flammability, and water absorption. I'd need a lot of Elmer's Glue & velcro.

Velcro isn't that ghetto lol. If i didn't have purpose built bays for my SSD's that is what I'd be doing.

I really don't like the drive bay mounts. Most of the time it's sheer luck that they fit into your case.

                  How great does that look!

Duke, how old is your case? If it isn't very old it may have SSD bays. Mine has two on the back of the motherboard tray.

I rummaged through my boxes of extra parts, and no such luck. There is a mechanical keyboard on a Shell Shocker deal today, If I get that I will toss on a rack for my cute and quick SSD.

Which case is that? Sounds like it has taken its lead from the Velcro on the motherboard trick.

                          Silverstone Raven RV02

                          It is a awesome case.

All of the connectors are on the top.

Case technology has some a loooong way in a short time. I see some of these and marvel at the ingenuity involved to make them so functional that we wonder how we ever did without those simple things like board cutouts for cables behind the tray or built in toolboxes for extra screws or drive rails. Now those things are just kinda 'meh' and have been replaced by newer features like built in fan controllers or SATA backplanes ... it really is a great time to be building a new rig.

If I ever win the lottery I'm inviting all you guys over for a LANfest to end all LANfests and we can admire each others gear while fragging away.
