    Can't play COD:WAW!

I got COD:WAW for Christmas, installed it last night, but when I try to run it in either SP or MP mode, I get the following error:

"Call of Duty: World at War couldn't write a file. The hard drive is probably full."

I can't figure out what is going on. I have plenty of space on my HDDs. I got the 1.1 patch. I also updated PB and made sure I had the latest Directx Runtime.

Anyone have any suggestions for other things I can try? I googled the error, but didn't really see anything helpful.

Check the disk, make sure it isn't a lemon, and might want to try a different DVD drive to install it through.

Have you got the latest video card drivers?
are you on the administrative account of the computer?

those are the only things I've been able to pull up on google that might help :/

Okay, this is wierd. I have three users on this system. The first is the one I use for normal activity, the second is my wife's, and the third I set up specifically for gaming. For the third user, I have less stuff that gets loaded at startup, and it doesn't have any of the Sidebar stuff running.

For some reason, I can run COD:WAW on my main user account, but I cannot on my gaming account. This is in addition to another issue that cropped up recently (or maybe they're related?) where sometimes when I log into the gaming user the system will hang.

I think I am just going to do away with the third user, and set up all of my games on my main user account.

or just give your gaming account administrative access.

It already has admin access. I have been playing all of my games on that account with no problems. COD4 worked fine on that account.

Usually when you get indications like this especially the logging in and it hanging or logging out and it hanging, it is due to user local profile issues.
It sounds to me like the registry hive for the gaming user profile has become corrupt.
                        1. Backup any data from the user login you want, only pics and docs, etc.
                        2. Log on as a different user with admin perms
                        3. Delete the user account using the user manager.
                        4. Ensure the user directory containing the profile and hive is gone in:
                        c:\Documents and Settings\<username> (for XP)
                        c:\Users\,username> (for Vista)

Then create a test user and see if you can run the game and if so, start the tweaks over, streamline startup processes etc.

                          I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate.

You're probably dead-on with that DougBob. I may try that, but I've started thinking there is no reason for me to have an extra user for gaming anyway. I have 4GB of RAM, so there's no shortage... I copied all of the needed profiles to my main user, and verified that WOW and COD4 are both set up correctly.
