Sex offenders must hand over online passwords in Georgia Thursday

Sex offenders must hand over passwords - Crime courts- msnbc.com

I probably have harsher views on sex offenders than a lot of people here (basically involve dragging them out back with a shotgun), but I'm not so sure I like the whole idea of this law. There's a certain point where you begin crossing over between safety practices and start getting in to Big Brother monitoring of everything. They're already required to hand over all email addresses, etc, so if they're doing something clandestine, turning over passwords as well is going to do absolutely jackshit. Just taking security a bit far over the line imo.

Or we could just shoot them.

I know here that when someone is charged w/ a sex offense, they aren't allowed to have the internet at all.
I'm not sure how long they have to go or whatever but I know someone that was charged w/ lewd and lascivious conduct w/ a minor. He wasn't allowed to have internet and that was just one of the minor things on the list of "not allowed".
I personally think that this is a great idea.
So go on, go on be your own, go on be your own star!
    A superstar in my eyes!

      These little programs dont work.
Basically there is nothing stopping them from holding back or creating additional accounts unless you use some of the technology I am seeing being used in California.

What needs to be done is black box computing, sealed, that uploads the contents of their computer each day to a server for review.

Sadly enough, however, most of these criminals do not even use the internet. The internet isnt the gateway, it is just a medium. The majority of these criminals are out there trolling, casing, documenting, and waiting. Patiently. They will drive by a house with children and document the habits for several years sometimes, and then when the stars align, move in for the horror.

None of this is happening on the internet. What is happening on the internet is the trade of pornography, networking with other offenders, and utilizing it to do things such as map out the area for potential targets.
Of course I am only speaking from child endangerment perspectives, but the reality here is that Sex Offenders include:

People who were caught having sex in public
People who were caught urinating in public (in some states and counties)
People who were caught having sex with the windows open in their house

      as well as

      Rapists
      Attempted rapists
      Molestation Offenders (adult and minor)

Sex Offender is a wide net, and it does create a lot of problems. Internet password claim is just a step, but there is no collection standard and in most cases, account accuracy is hardly maintained.

I though that there were different levels of sex offenders. I sure would hate to be the guy who got caught in the back of his car with his girlfriend and then get labeled this.

I say we just keep making them reveal themselves by going around telling people their sex offenders because if people know the possiblility of something happening to their children it probably won't happen. We don't need to kill them thats just a step towards the United States turning into Nazis.

Having tried many cases I've given up on expensive ones. Not convinced they are significantly better than an inexpensive gel case for 1/10 the money....
