    More riots

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/01/08/...ing/index.html

The article conveniently omits why the guys were pulled off the train car to begin with, and says little about the guy struggling while police are trying to detain him...which is not a great idea. There is not enough evidence from the blurry video, seconds before it happens, to throw the officer under the train.

The rioters and the protesters say they live in fear of the police, but I'm guessing that of the hundreds/thousands of deaths by firearms each year in Cali, very few are caused by police officers...and most of those are in self defense in a high stress line of work.

I've found that by not creating public disturbances, police tend to leave me alone. But maybe that's only because I'm German American.

I haven't read any other news on this so I have no clue what happened but I would wait and see what the investigation comes up with before I set out to burn down my neighborhood.

It must be because these protesters have been up late playing violent video games.

I live out here, I used to work by Richmond, and I'll tell you guys that it is a fierce place to live. I never go there unless it's in the middle of the day, and you never go somewhere there unless you know exactly where you will be.

Second, the cop thought his tazer gun was in his hand, not his firearm- a problem people like me have predicted for awhile now. My fathers business partner wrote a letter to someone awhile ago asking that they be brightly colored with a specific grip so that there would be no question what weapon was in hand.

Thsi cop made two mistakes that I can confirm- obviously the wrong weapon, but also trying to fire that so close to the person.

Third- These people who are rioting just want to hurt back because they are unfortunate. It's really sadness that drives this, and the sadness has allowed for the opportunity to loot, steal, and riot.

Hammy, are the sights for a taser and Beretta not different? What about the width of the firearm? Or the weight?

                  What are you talking about?
Custom tazers? Department issues do not come custom, and the Union wouldnt allow the cost to be passed on to the officers.

                  Anyways-

Standard Tazers have the same feel in the grip, and they feel like similar weight. In close quarters you aim in the direction, you dont really sight it. The sights, in the ones I have played with, are standard but in a strong situation where you have 6-8 people in custody and an entire BART train full of people shouting (those trains are packed tight no different than a NY City Subway train), you may not notice by sight alone.

I wish they had wider grips and were colored brighter colors, Gene. That way the grip would be clue #1 and when you sighted it, you would see Pylon Orange and know what was in your hand (or not in your hand).

When you get into these dense situations, with multiple suspects, and one or two of the suspects keeps standing up or yelling about his rights (after breaking someone's window or being apprehended driving a stolen vehilce for example) in front of a crowd, it gets very very tense.

Control that suspect, or the suspect will control the crowd- and determine the safety of everyone around you. As you can see- someone got killed by accident because this gentleman kept sitting up, kept shouting, kicking and spitting at the officers. Which each move, the crowd ramped up louder, and louder and louder.

It's a tradgedy. HOWEVER, your role while in custody, no matter what the circumstances are, is to be subdued and encourage processing so that if you are wrongly accused you can get to a lawyer as quickly as possible. That is my opinion. This man contributed to his own death by not following direction and authority by process. The officer is 100% at fault in this accident, cant claim it any other way. But the deceased is also to be blamed for his actions before and during his time in custody, his choice of friends who contributed to the situation, and just overall poor judgement.

Ok so I got a question, am I understanding this right that their tazers are not bright yellow, wider, have caution stripes on them and in a totally different place on their utility belt like the guys here in Colorado????

How about big flashing lights and a broadcast system shouting: Warning this is a tazer and not a gun.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
