The surgery went good. He had no problems during but the surgery it's self didn't go as planned. The plan was to do the groin tendons on both sides but once the Dr opened up the right side and cut it, he knew that it wasn't going to do any good to do the left side. It's his hips that are the problem and the only way around that is to do hip reconstruction. He did still break the tibia and fibia but he wasn't able to straighten out his right leg. The muscles being as tight as they are, has really messed up his leg. He straightened it out the best he could and then did what he could to match the left leg up. Instead of using the plates and screws to put the bones back, he stapled the bones and Braiden won't have to have them removed.
He's got the casts and he's got two bars, one between the ankles and another between the knees. He goes back in two weeks and they are going to take the casts off and remove the stitches. The Dr said he'll recast him for sure but until he does x-rays, he doesn't know if he'll put the bars back.
Braiden had a BIG surprise Thurs eve. He had some of the guys from the Lionz show up. He had one call him Thurs morning and that one told him he'd be in on Fri. He wasn't expecting the ones to show up Thurs. Braiden's reaction was priceless. You would have thought that it was John Cena or some big superstar coming to see him. But to him they are I guess. They all signed his casts and reminded him to work extra hard to get ready to be there to there games.
Funny thing.. Braiden is very vocal and he don't hold things back. A lady had come in yesterday and asked him to do a survey about the hospital and I warned her that he speaks his mind. She said thats what she wanted. Well she started off about admitting. Braiden wasn't happy with admitting to begin w/. We did that on Mon. and he had to do a UA and blood work. The lab tech had given him a little cup for his UA and he wasn't happy at all. And so of course w/ the survey, he complained about that, telling the woman they could have given him a bigger cup.
Also, years ago, one of the physical therapists from the hospital was contracted through the school. Braiden hated her. We were trying to get him a walker at one time and we needed her help. In the end, she refused and also sighted Eric and I as bad parents. She didn't like us. My husband wouldn't let say anything because he had just started working at the hospital and he was afraid of loosing his job.
Well anyways, towards the end of the survey, she asked if there was anything they could change about the hospital, what would it be. He then told her that they needed to get rid of the physical therapist Gina. He had me dieing of laughter. His dad didn't hear him.. LOL
OO and not to mention, Thurs morning when the new nurse came in. Braiden started to tell her that the surgery was his idea but the fact that his dad was pushing 40, he couldn't be lifting him much longer. It was quit comical. Even in misery, he's still got the touch.
