I hate watching the commentaries on the news because at this point they just have a bunch of people talking out their.... It appears that while taking off they may have hit some birds which flamed out both engines and they put it down nicely in the water. The plane is still floating so hopefully everyone has made it out.

I heard that birds took out both engines and the pilot managed to circle back to the river to put it down. Great piloting I say. And I heard that everyone survived so far. 20 F with a wind chill of 6 F.

looks like everyone got out okay....no major injuries. wow, now that is luck and some damn good flying.

I got to see the plane and the armada of boats around it on the way out of New York. Very impressive/scary sight to say the least.

I wonder if they had done any bird clearing beforehand. At alot of the airpots I been to, they will shoot off noise-makers to keep flocks away. (mostly early in the morning)

Watching a press conference on CNN....the Mayor of NY is going to give the Pilot and crew a "Key to the City" which I think is the least they can do for these ppl who in my eyes deserve all the world can offer for them

That wont stop them from suing the airline.

I dont think they have a case Duke. They are going to have to prove reasonable incompetence and there isnt really a precedence with the FAA and the maintenance of your Airline Fleet.

The Airport may be liable but US Airways should be clear, especially since the first thing people said was that this was a text book maneuver executed so cleanly that it (the incident) will likely become part of the pilot safety curriculum as example.

The only thing I can say about US Airways is that they are always late, never on time, and their planes seem to have reliability issues. They are the preferred airline at my company but I will not fly with them. I was delayed 4 times in a row within 3 months and those delays cost me a total of 22 hours without factoring in fatigue or missed office time due to their airline reliability and on time issues.

I'll pay the difference out of pocket everytime if I have to but I will not fly US Airways (though this incident makes me feel better about them).
