If you can watch them for free, and possibly see shows that aren't even on DVD, why Netflix?

Watching stuff on your computer is just not the same as your wall swallowing HD tv. It's never designed for full screen and even if you blow it up you lose resolution. Your couch is probably more comfortable than your desk chair. Netflix is how I found some of my favorite shows. (BSG, Firefly, 24, Spaced) Besides, internet isn't free either. We're just pretty used to paying for it and forget that we do.

I prefer sites such as hulu. Watch tv for free with very limited commercial breaks.

You're not gaining anything on say, the Twilight Zone on an HDTV. And I pay for cable just like internet, and just accept them as fact--so in my twisted mind, the content they offer is 'free.'

My desk chair is much more comfortable than my couch (which is actually a love seat in size due to the smallness of my townhouse and cheapness of me)--and my couch is in the living room downstairs, with a (ugh) standard def tv: my HDTVs are in my office and bedroom right now. And hopefully, the recliner that will soon be at the center of my basement will put both to shame.

Umm My wall swallowing HD tvs have VGS inputs and my laptop has HDMI ouput... But, by that token I'm also thinking of getting a HD tivo and it supports netflix play now option

Agreed, but most computer screens are much higher resolution than even 1080p HDTVs. Imo, the feeling you get when you are sitting in a nice soft couch with a big bowl of popcorn watching a movie on a 6ft TV, is just so much nicer than being stuck at a desk in a chair watching on a much smaller screen, no matter how high the definition on your computer monitor.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
