    Wii or Xbox360

I'm really thinking about Selling my Nintendo Wii for an Xbox360. I hardly play my Wii after I beat Zelda, and no new games are coming out that interest me. The motion control was fun, but now when I play it I could care less if it's motion controlled or not.

    I don't want a PS3, that's out of the picture.

However, for the 360... It has some great games coming out *cough* Assassin's Creed *cough* and has Halo 3. Im not a halo freak, but I do have to admit that game is really fun.

The problem with Xbox360 is my brother bought one, and it breaks down. This is his 3rd Xbox360 (and he didn't have to pay for it or the 2nd, because it was the Xbox's fault not his). My friend also had the same problem.

I would be making money by selling my Nintendo Wii, the controllers + numchuck, the 4 games, and the battery's + charger.

However, I'd be negative money if I bought Assassin's Creed and Halo 3 (the only games I really want at this moment), because (correct me if I'm wrong) 360 games are 60 dollars each.

I'm leaning more towards getting a 360, but I'm just curious on other people's opinion

I got a Wii way back in February and it hasn't been turned on in at least six months. The concept is great, and Wii Sports is fun, but once you get tired of it there's nothing else. I am looking forward to the rail shooters coming out this fall, but probably won't pick them up until sometime next year with the slew of games coming out.

I really didn't want to buy a 360 (ask DaNight, I used to slag on them all the time here for their constant breakdowns), but when I broke down and got one, I was and still am really happy with it. They're not for everyone (Ask Carbonfire, according to my friends list he hasn't played his in a month, maybe you can buy his ), but everyone I know personally in RL loves theirs.

They do break down, the case was designed poorly to handle the amount of airflow it needs. But if you buy one new at this point, it will have the second heatsink and should be much less prone to failure. And every one has a three year warranty on it. Mine hasn't broken yet despite a ton of use, and mine is an old model that kicks enough heat out of the back to make toast.

The disaster that is Vista and DX10 have really turned me away from PC gaming. I have gone from being a diehard PC gamer to playing something on the PC maybe once every couple of weeks. I have an inbox full of unused beta invitations to games I was once excited about. I don't have to screw around with wondering why my mic isn't working or why I can't connect to a certain server. XBox Live has multiplayer down cold. Most importantly, I don't have to spend $2000 on a new PC. The last game I bought for the PC was The Orange Box and I have yet to play Ep. 1 or 2, and I almost never play TF2...and I loved Half-Life 2 and really like TF2...there's just things on the 360 I'd rather play instead. Additionally, most big titles these days are either console only or there is a console version of them.

If you do get one...As much as you like BF2, I would get Call of Duty 4 instead of Halo 3. The multiplayer beta for COD4 was a blast. Halo 3 is fun but I think COD4 is going to have a lot more depth to it. It comes out this Tuesday (11/06).

If you have a bigscreen HDTV you will have a hard time going back to a little PC screen. I thought my 22" monitor was big until I got used to playing on a 42". If you do not have an HDTV, you will end up buying one if you get a 360...trust me, I wasn't planning on buying one until I played for a bit and thought, "Man, this looks good...I bet it'd look even better in high definition!"

Most importantly, look at the upcoming games for the PC and for the 360, and decide where your money needs to go. That was a big factor for me. The only thing I'm looking forward to on the PC is Warhammer Online, and I don't need to upgrade for that. I was looking forward to UT3, but got a definite "been here, done that back in 2004" feeling from the demo. Crysis, to me, looks like a silly reason to spend $3,000 to play another Far Cry game. And I didn't like Far Cry in the first place. The one thing the 360 does not do well is RTS games, and it can't handle multiplayer over 16 players (AFAIK). That's pretty much it.

I pretty much agree with TD. I never use my wii. My 360 gets used daily pretty much by me or my boy.
As far as games go all you gotta do is goto gamespot and check xbox 360`s top games vs other systems and you will see its hands down the clear winner.

The wii while really fun gets really old fast. no multiplayer (basically), freinds codes sux, crappy game library, last gen looks and sound.

The xbox 360 has great games coming out monthly and as soon as you beet 1 there is a new one out. Not to mention xbox 360 games used are pretty cheap and you can get some classic xbox 360 games for next to nothing.

My xbox 360 runs better and faster than my pc.

Have had my 360 for a year now. I was so against it until i got one as an early Christmas present. So many games for it, it's ridiculous. Have fun and be sure to get LIVE.

I'm not a fan of consoles. If i had to chose, I would probably go with the 360 for its long term gaming potential. The Wii is an amazing concept, ground breaking in what is has done with motion. However, at this point, its still in its infancy and is nothing more than a novelty. Something you can rent from Blockbuster when you have a party and want to have some gaming fun.

Personally, I would chose neither. But between the two choices you listed, and based on what you are looking for (list of games), I'd go with the 360.

If you bought your Wii thinking there would be a huge amount of games, you should think more about your purchases before making them.

As there are still loads of people willing to buy one because they need to keep up with the jone's, might be a good time for you to cash in on yours. I'm starting to see regular Wii stock in a few local stores.

And there is something wrong with a thread where you have a bunch of guys saying they no longer use their Wiis, or their Wiis have gone untouched for months.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.

odd so many people voted wii but no one is really defending it or given him reason as to why its a better choice than the xbox 360.

Now the wii at parties is a must have device. Like guitar hero or rockband (for xbox 360, wii and ps3). Playing golf on the wii is extremely fun and i will play it so much with friends ill throw my shoulder out, that not to mention that i hate golf as well.

If your rehabbing the wii is great as well and the potential for the wii to become more fitness oriented is a plus as well. But there is no nocking the power of xbox 360 or ps3 as they are basicaly powerhouse pc`s. Now the wii was never designed to be that but if pc gaming is what you like (hd graphics, super crisp sound) then the wii probably will disappoint. If you have young kids the wii is great though.

But the xbox 360 is coming up on its 2 year birthday and the game library is second to nothing. For causal every day gaming pc or xbox 360 are like brothers. They are my first choice daily when i think games. But if i have company over or parties the wii is on but outside of that, i never touch the wii.

I voted for Wii because of just how incredibly good the control system is and how much potential it holds for the future, and because I choose quality over quantity any day.

There hasn't been a bad Zelda game since Zelda 2. Super Mario Brother 2 and Sunshine were disappointments, but not bad, while SMB3, Super Mario World, and Mario 64 were all groundbreaking and top notch.

Mario Kart and other multiplayer games are just on the horizon, and if developers go with the benefits of what they can do and take advantage of the system, they've got something that can't be beat. Take something like TF2 and it's cartoonish look. Translate something like that to the Wii and pair it with the zapper. No other shooter in history can match that control scheme, and you won't need the processing power of the 360 to render it.

As far as quality, look to the licenses. The only licenses I want from PS3 are GTA and Final Fantasy, and I know I'll get GTA on the PC at least. The only thing I want from 360 are the games Rare creates; other so-called "exclusives" will also make it to the PC--Gears of War, Halo, etc.

That's not the case with Mario, Zelda, Kart, Smash Brothers, Metroid, and other licenses held by the Wii and Nintendo.

Also, I could care less about graphics quality. Some of my all-time favorite games to this day still include Master of Magic, Deus Ex, X-Com, and Burger Time. None of them are exactly state of the art today, but all have superb gameplay. Give me a weak graphical look with a great game over shine and polish, but same-old, same-old.

                        -Rand

There was a survey a month or so ago that stated, among Wii owners questioned, 67% of them no longer used the console at all.

There's some potential there, but unfotunately most third party developers think that "casual" is synonymous with "crap".

Mario Kart, Resident Evil:UC, and Ghost Squad are the only things keeping me from selling my Wii.

Just because I haven't been online doesn't mean I haven't played it at all. I've just been lazy in not getting a new cable run to the living room so I can hook it up online. Honestly though, I haven't played much since TF2 came out - that sort of absorbed most of my game time. I still play H3 offline with friends, but its pretty sporadic. Not to mention I hate - HATE the matchmaking crap vs a real server browser. I understand why they do it....but being a dyed-in-the-wool pc gamer, anything less than full control seems "inferior" to me

I'll probably pick up GH3 at some point, as well as Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, DMC4, SC4 and GTA4 - thats my real reason for owning the system (and all the arcade games). Halo 3 is fun and all, plus the vehicular combat is second to none in terms of polish, but when comparing it to MP PC games, it just falls flat in my book.

My parents have a Wii that my sister and her friends play....can't say I enjoy it much. While the concept seems solid enough, there aren't many good titles for it, and the system is so underpowered that I fear the "innovative gameplay" potential is a bit limited. Its NOT just about pretty graphics either.....its about building richer, more interactive worlds that are bigger than used to be possible. I guess Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart & SSBB would be good enough reasons to get it if you truly desire those titles.

My money is still on the 360. The new, more reliable ones should be out (mine I believe has the newer heatsink at least, so I'm not too worried), so Red Ring of Death(RRoD) problems should be less of an issue. It has the strongest line-up of games for people over 12, best arcade experience (with NEW titles, not just a bunch of ones you've already played for too much money), plus its still a good deal cheaper than the PS3. YMMV of course, but I don't regret my purchase at all

Welp about half the wii top games are virtual console games we played like 10 years ago, i think its pretty clear which system offers the widest variety and best games. I mean come on the best wii game ever was a ps2 port from like a year ago. Thats not saying much for the wii.
