I will agree that what this officer did was completely out of line, but there is one line in that article that kinda irks me.
"The Moats family, who are black, said they can't help but think that race might have played a part in the white officer's behavior."
I am so tired of people trying to play the race card like that. Chances are the officer was just a jerk would would have done the same thing to anyone.
This occurred about 10 minutes away from my house. It is absolutely EVERYWHERE and getting pretty annoying!
What are you hearing? Is it taking a neutral direction or turning racial more and more? I'm very curious on this one.
I too totally understand law enforcement and what they go thru today, BUT I do believe it has gotten carried away over the years and the politeness and compassion of law enforcement is getting lost by the minute.
Frankly I must say in this scenario I do believe as soon as my wife and whomever got in the hospital ok, I would have told this young ignorant pup to do what he felt was right and turned my back on him and started walking to the hospital door. If he shot me, fine so be it, I'd go down a martyr, if he jumped me I'd beat the piss out of him and let the courts handle it. Either way I wouldn't tolerate this s@#t from anybody.

The race card gets pulled too much these days, but I don't blame them for thinking being black had something to do with this. Does not mean it is true, but it would be on the top of my list.
I really hope that this man was just a general jerk and really would have done this to anyone. But not all black people are as optimistic as I am and there will be only one reason for this incident in their minds........and the cycle continues
Personally. I would have done exactly what Doug said... Just ignored him and walked inside. Let him do what he thinks he needs to do, and I will as well. Even if that means assaulting a police officer because he's making an incorrect decision in a case like this.
