Time Warner, Embarq Fight to Outlaw 100mbps Community Broadband.

    Here

There would be NO more of this teired pricing talk if more cities did this....even at a slight profit. Its fine when the big companies are trying to figure out how to gouge us to oblivion, but they don't like this one bit.

I can't believe they are fighting this this way. I hope they lose and that the politicians that supported it get tossed out.

It's even worse that these companies are giving Federal Funding sometimes to develop infrastructure...

I figured it out. The CEO of Time/Warner belongs to a rival gaming clan and he wants 100Mbs for himself so the little smacktard can achive elite pwnage (or so he belives) against the guys who have been rolling him up the screen.

You know, I've read where they tried to block similar plans because it would "hurt the consumer" for whatever sick twisted little reason they came up with. Honestly, it sounds like fair competition to me, which of course the big companies hate with a passion...

That's when they are going to feed you the BS of the higher speed broadband and the larger number of people will drain the bandwidth away from others... What ever. These guys need to go down. More towns need to take Wilson as an example and cripple the cable companies.
If NC politicians destroy this I say they get there butt drug out in the street and flogged.

                Damn it even gets worse.

Do over: House Bill moves to new committee Save NC Broadband.com

Here’s the part that really surprised me. Several times, members of the committee asked bill sponsors Rep. Ty Harrell (Wake) and Rep. Thom Tillis (Mecklenburg) for clarification. The lawmakers turned to a Time Warner staff member and an attorney who represents the industry to speak on their behalf. You read that right. The sponsors, elected by their communities, had to ask a Time Warner rep to clarify what their own bill said.

I can't understand this stuff. I freaking state representative allows a company that obviously is not acting in the best interest of the public to speak on their behalf and this crap continues to happen in the US. This isn't the only place crap like this occurs. I'm just dumbfounded this type stuff still happens in a so called free state the government is SUPPOSE to do what is better for the people, the same people that elected their butt.

That's such a load of crap.

They're now using push polling to try to get the public to vote with them against the "start up" companies. Big US ISPs Roll Out Push Polling to Stop Cheap Internet
