While the public should have been alerted.... this is a prime example of the fact that the 9/11 terrorist attacks have most likely worked exactly like they where planned to. If you think about it for a moment.... there where 2 F-16 right on the tail of the 747.... Wouldn't somebody have thought "Well, maybe the Air Force is doing some training." or "If this starts to turn bad at least there are 2 jets there ready to take it out before this becomes another 9/11."

I also wonder how many times the Air Force has done this exact routine over other parts of the U.S. pre-9/11 without incident like this....

I see the flights from Andrews all the time; in fact I live under one of the racetrack paths, and work under an approach path. I've yet to see an escorted aircraft here.

I would think pre 9/11, and at times post, they still would have notified someone that they were going up to take some pictures.

Well Rand, according to the artical, Some people where notified, and the police where actually told to not say anything about it but instead to direct questions to the F.A.A. It wasn't so much a break-down in communications as it was just a few select people making the wrong choices in who was authorized to release what information.

Bloomberg wasn't notified, and he's the one that should have been.

Just wow on the total expenditure value. ($350k plus hours served)
Just wow on the fact that it was just a few weeks ago we had an idiot attacking Veterans
Just wow on several other levels in this administrations' competency.

These are Obama selections that are making these decisions. True he isnt doing this by direction, but at the same time, these are people he supposedly has confidence in....
