Mind blowing (star explodes 13 billion light years away)

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8022917.stm

To think of the distance of that star, of the fact that what is seen happened 13 billion years ago, and of the fact that from there we could be viewing a whole different section of the universe...the size of it all...Holy wow...what the...yikes!

The passage of light across a plane is finite, therefore, the Universe may be more dense than we believe it to currently be.

This highlights a great example of how there could be a very dense mass beyond a visible curtain, just simply because the light they have emitted has not yet reached our relative center yet.

Also, if an object is front of said light source, it will never reach us, so until we get orbital satellite telescopes beyond the earths' orbit, we will only know a singular position re: the view of the universe.

    Great article

Thank you. Yeah, pretty cool stuff. Too much food for my small mind, lol! One great thing about the technologies we have developing at the current pace is that oldsters like me get to see such a huge rewriting of "knowns" and "unknowns" in our lifetime...history and therefore "facts" mutate such that...well, the only thing I'm pretty sure of is that I don't know much.

Amazing that something exists that far away, I don't think a lot of people really get just how MASSIVE the universe is.

I have always wondered if the universe is finite, if it is what does the end look like , but if its not then that would mean.....and that just awes me.

Lol. That's what I'm saying, man! The same thoughts have crossed my mind. When it becomes too much to think about, I've found it helpful to come up with a quick, simple joke about Uranus...after a wholesome laugh I realize I know more than I need to about the universe already!

              Scales of dimension.

What the world is to an ant, is to a bee, is to a bird, is to a dog, is to a horse, it to an elephant is to a whale, and so forth.

Our sun could simple be a molecule of copper or something, and we are the electrons floating around it.
Or we are a single cell within an animal that roams another dimension.....

That reminds me of the ending to Men In Black when the credits roll.
Anyone ever sit thru that ??

Very Freaky perspective on the universe like Hammy points out.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
