    Big explosions nearby!

Not really sure what's going on but from roughly 35mins ago multiple explosion could be heard from outside and inside my house. Every second there is a loud bang and the sky is lit brightly. The air currently stinks of what i can only describe at burnt paint.

Just went to investigate but didn't get far, IE the end of my road, and it's all blocked off by the police.

There must have been well over 100 explosions, bu thankfully i haven't heard one in about 5mins.

Something very bad just happened i think.

Sounds like a Paint plant exploded... Some of those fumes are very volatile...

As soon as i got back in i closed all my windows Don't think we have a paint plant nearby though. I know we have a Calor Gas storage site nearby. I think if that went up it would have been a lot more noticeable though.

We have had propane storage sites explode before here in Dallas. Luckily the larger tanks didn't explode, but the smaller ones did - creating a ton of small explosions.

The scary part was that these little gas containers would shoot off like missiles when they exploded, very dangerous!

        Hope everything is well, Juneau.

Best part about all this is that the last time there was an explosion/fire nearby was in the exact same warehouse park in 2007, and it looked like this.

                    From the local news.

AROUND 30 firefighters fought a blaze in a factory unit in Burslem early today.

It broke out at International Freight Brokers (IFB) in Florida Close on the Hot Lane industrial estate at around 1am.

Six fire engines from Longton, Burslem, Newcastle, Hanley and Kidsgrove fought the smoke and flames which broke through the roof in several places and could be seen for miles around.

The building measuring 50 metres by 30 metres was left badly damaged and crews were still at the scene eight hours later.

Hot Lane was sealed off by police and people in surrounding homes were advised to close windows and doors to keep the fumes out.

Workers arriving for the morning shift at neighbouring units were told to keep out until it was safe enough to clock on.

A fire brigade spokesman said: "The fire was brought under control but crews were still there at 8am on a watching brief. No-one was in the factory at the time and the cause is still being investigated."

The blaze was spotted by two workers at the neighbouring Mincrete Ltd concrete suppliers.

Director Gary Cottam said: "The first they know there was something wrong was when the lights went out. Then they saw the fire next door and got out quickly. By that time the building was well alight."

IFB is understood to have been based in Hot Lane for around nine years transporting freight all over the world by land, air and sea. Items it carries includes chemical products and cement mixers.

At another neighbouring unit owned by Brown?s, a spokesman said: "Luckily the factory had been emptied yesterday or it could have been a lot worse. I dread to think what would have happened had the fire been on Friday after 1pm when the place is packed with all sorts of freight with artic trucks waiting outside to be loaded up."
It's also on the BBC News website.

Factory fire tackled in the night

A factory fire on an industrial estate in Stoke-on-Trent has been brought under control.

The blaze was discovered by staff at IFB Ltd in Florida Close on the Hot Lane Industrial Estate early on Thursday, police said.

Forty percent of the building was well alight and the cause has not been established, the fire service said.

Parts of Hot Lane, Maplehurst Close and Florida Close were closed to vehicles and pedestrians at about 0635 BST.

Smoke has been affecting the Sneyd Green and Burslem areas, police said.

People have been urged to keep windows closed as a precaution.

Six fire engines were called to the scene.
