Wont load any of my games im trying to fix it and it keeps shutting itself down...
I hate it that im a valve addict or i would never use Steam

i was having problems when i first tried connecting. wouldnt connect then when it did my ping was 500 in server when its usually 20-30.

Same with me. Steam would not connect so all the steam games wouldent launch. But i restarted computer and it all worked again.

I had 600+ ping the other day and I rebooted and it fixed it. If you have this kind of problem do not blame Steam.
Last night when I first started Steam there was an update and Steam was doing Maintenance. Even Friends were down for the maintenance.
Personally, I like Steam.
No waiting for patches to update a game since they automatically download.
If I want to play on multiple computers at different times or different locations I can.
Never have to carry discs around.
Never have to find a missing key-code.

Yeah, unless your account is hijacked...My Dawn of War II sits on the shelf now because I gave up trying to synchronize getting a new id and password for steam and windows live after my build. Takes a few days for their service to respond, and then I get a CD key invalid for my game, which is already in their system....so screw it. I don't want to have to log in to something, go through so much work to play a game that I have in hand.

I go back and forth with Steam. The biggest problem I have had was when they would patch a game and then I couldn't play on the server. But what I LOVE about Steam is that I don't have to bring disks with me on the road.

I also like the friends list.

Any help. I have tried the steam support page but had no luck.

+1. I'd much rather have to swap a disc and manually patch a game than put up with Steam. I've never purchased a game through it but he hassle involved in playing a Valve game that requires it even though I have the disc was enough to put me off.

its because steam is doing maintenance, and u cant log in to your community page as u cant see your friends list either. just wait or restarts that all.

Hey hey... just "digged" out my steam account for DOD:S again .. and some how had no problems at all.. Well hight pings one of these days, but a reboot fixed it. I agree with Apache no more lookin' for CDKeys or the Game CD/DVDs and if you have a CD/DVD like for COD 4 or 5 and maybe a Steam Version - here U can find your cd key /all steam cd keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam\Users\123xx xx123(Acc #)\cdkeys for your COD acc.

But then YES..if your account get hijacked.. kind of hard to get it back (ID/pw).. thats why I always go over the Steam Homepage and buy there the games (I do not us the Steam Browser) with printing out my purchase with the "Confimation code". And it works great with the steam support. I lost my pw and I wrote a Ticket with a scanned copy (from one of my lasted games I ownd that time). Steam support restet my pw in about 24hrs later. Should be the same with a hijacked acc. hmm I guess...

So personaly - found my Steam ACC throu Cain Lair again and I like it .. just buy, download it, played it.. and you can reach your friends also quick throu the steam chanel..or hopp in the multiplayer game there are in..

Was kinda ranting and pissed when i started this post...
but yeah I think the Idea of steam is good, but there are serious problems with it. Only thing that is awsome about steam is some of the deals, aka orangebox and ut3 black for $10 ea.
