    Arrr, I found Treasure

Well I was helping my daughter count the money in her money box yesterday before we go on vacation and I found one of the 20 pence coins (32 cents) with no date on that everyone have been talked about about around the world but we are holding back from selling it just yet.

Britain's Royal Mint admits issuing 20-pence coins with no dates in rare mistake - Los Angeles Times

On the balance of probabilities the value should rise. Currently the dealers are buying them to sell on. The Royal Mint are offering ?50 so they can sell them on. They are averaging ?250 ($405) on ebay.

It is thought that there were between 50,000 - 200,000 of the ?no date? coins made. There are currently 2,315,000,000 20 pence pieces in circulation so in reality there will always be very few available, given that maybe 25% will never be found. This is being talked about by coin collectors all over the world as it is the first time in over 300 years that the year has been left off a coin of the royal mint so the collectors are wetting themselves with excitement. My daughter on the other hand is looking forward to her designer handbag. Oh yes, as a failsafe she has made me underwrite the darn thing to the value of ?250 should the value drop so maybe I will ask for a percentage of everything over that.

Give her the ?250 for the handbag and keep the coin for yourself.

Tell her you'll buy her a normal handbag. That's worth a lot more than the face value of the coin, and it teaches a lesson about going after items on name alone. Then you can go buy something good with the coin when it is worth some real scratch in a few years.

I love hearing "feel good" stories. Congrats to her and I hope she enjoys her new bag.

Is there a pink thong in it for you Jaspurr?

Ah Peach, now there is someone hard to forget. I wonder how she is doing these days.

Blackarrow, you know me too well. I may commission Radley to make the thong with the little doggie tag

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
