Daggum Deadly, You must get alot of funny questions form students. What grade level do you teach?
My brain is fryed from education Been out of school for 26 years.
I had a friend ask me this, but I teach Freshman and Sophomore Biology for about 1/3 of my work day, than 2/3 back at the vet.
I get a lot of stupid questions, but these I got from a friend who got them from another friend who probably got them from a friend who got them from a newspaper that a friend gave him.
Not really. The average American is pretty much a dumbass. 70 or more percent can't find Canada, and that's a bit closer than the UK.

You have to be kidding me.
In my 12th grade year I was the only kid in my class (25 counting me) that could name every state. The only one that could name every country and find every country in Europe and South America and pretty much most of Africa and 90% of Asia.
I had 8 different teachers try to tell me I was wrong but I was the only one that truly knew the Nile river flows in the wrong direction... I told them to look it up in a encyclopedia and prove me wrong.
Americans aren't so smart... unfortunately we live in a country that can afford to become a highly intelligent and wastes its time on stupidity.
I saw a video on youtube w/ a guy asking people questions. I'm sure lots got them right, but they found enough people to answer the questions so ridiculously that it was depressing...
My favorite part was they were asking people to put pins on a map where they would attack next, but the country names were intentionally mixed up. One guy said "Iran" and was looking for it in southern Africa. Finally after looking for it, shouts "OH!" and puts the pin down. Right in the middle of AUSTRALIA (yes, it was labeled Iran, but come on.)
bar if you haven't already I suggest you watch Idiocracy, it's so funny and what you just said proves its point
Starring Luke Wilson... isn't he Owen Wilson's brother ?? I will look into to watching it sometime.
Yes, it's a very funny movie. Rated R I think, as it has a ton of swearing in it, but it's very funny. If you don't laugh at it you have no sense of humor
I'm not sure if it's true or not, but i heard a while ago that 80% of US citizens didn't know where the UK was. That's a bit shocking really.
Our school system has been dumbed down to a ridiculous level. Wait ten years, and most American adults won't be able to tell you where the US is, let alone the UK.
I would laugh if it wasn't so true
Rand is right, the average American is more or less a dumbass. While we still have some of the best and the brightest, they are becoming more the exception than the rule. Oh well.....I guess all we can do now is sit back, watch our society slowly decay from within and enjoy the ride
