Yesterday I spent the day on our boat. We had anchored in about 12 feet of water and stayed there for ab out 4 hours. During this time the rope got wrapped around a log and it would not break loose. While trying to free the rope my finger got caught in a loop in the rope when a wave pushed the boat away from the anchor. I thought that it was going to pop off for second. Thankfully my wife was able to grab the rope and pull some slack so I could free myself. The tip is still a bit tingly so I hope that there is no permanent damage. I was able to swim down and free the anchor but what a pain in the butt and finger.

Had a similar problem that led me to almost dislocate my thumb or so they reckoned in the ER. Hurt for months. We used to toss a coin to see who would go get the anchor. 100 plus feet of water in low viz often though we were using SCUBA.Jaspurr

If it's still numb in the morning you might have seriously pinched the nerve, but theres nothing they could do anyway in that case.

Yes he could have lost his finger. My grandfather lost his in a hay bailer. Similar situation. Finger gets hung up and it will come off with enough force. Glad you did not lose your finger.
