    What the difference between this and the green laser pointers? Is it a different nm (wave length) ?

      Per the second article I listed:

      Up to now, only red and blue laser diodes were commercially available, while green lasers were obtained by frequency conversion of infrared lasers.

        Kewl, I never knew that.
        So the laser pointers they've been selling for a while weren't nothing more than a infrared with the wavelength stepped down. That's so wild. Now I can't wait to see the comparison of the true green and stepped down green. I bet the true green is a brilliant color.
