    Reaction time/reflexes

Being new to the PC gaming world ( I just started in Feb.) I noticed that my reflexes and reaction time in some of my other hobbies and even everyday life tasks improved. True to my nature I went to the web to do some research and confirmed that video games can in fact increase reaction time. Then I found some fun reaction/reflex tests and wanted to share them with everyone. My times are modest, nothing special, but I hope to see how they change as I continue playing. Right now I average about .230 s across the board... how will you do?????

    Reflex Test - Colors

    The Reflex Tester

Reflex training for gamers. (Gaming computers, gaming laptops)

    and my favorite.....

Bullet Time Reaction - a Free Flash Game as part of Flash Net

Good luck to all, and I'm interested in seeing if some our best here blow away the others... have fun!

No, he kicks them so hard that they ricochet back and kill the shooter.

I got about .23 secs as well (it's better when the adrenaline is going ). Though reflexes and reaction time do matter in gaming, I'd say what's more important is HOW you react. What I mean is that you can beat someone with a faster reaction time if you use more clever tactics. Also, I'd go as far as to say precision is more important than reaction time. You can have the best reaction time in the world and if you miss, it doesn't do you any good Reaction time probably comes into play most when you are sniping a corner and you want to shoot as soon as they pop out, though there are ways of counter-acting that

You know I'm kinda curious but, since I'm at work I can't really take the test.

However that being said last weekend I did a real world reaction test. I went and shot skeet for the first time ever. I went with a friend of mine who has a Mosberg semi auto shotty with a pistol grip. Now before you say "semi auto meh you can take 6 shots at two clays". The range had a two shell maximum. Thats it two shots at two birds. Never having done this before I thought I'd suck. It turns out I was quite good. My friend was amazed at my target acquisition speed. I routinely nailed two clays. Well except for when I left the safety on . Two things came to mind. One I play a lot of video games and two no matter what it is I shoot I aim with both eyes open. Everything bow, pistol, rifle and shotty. I think having both eyes open when aiming allowed me to acquire and engage the birds faster than my friend could.

Reconsnipe you're one of the quicker ones then. And cheese I do agree with you, speed is worthless in and of itself, but I still think it's an interesting thing to look at. One of the tests was a target finding one, I don't know if you tried it, because you're probably far better at that one then I am. Hopefully more people post so we see how everyone is doing.

You should always have both eyes open when shooting. If you only use one eye you will not have any depth perception. Even when looking through a scope (or a Loupe) you should keep both eyes open. Using only one eye to look through either, all the time, will lead to eye strain.

+1!!!! All because of what happened last night. Cheeser in a split second spotted me to his right, jumped and span 90degress or so to face me head on and fired as soon as he landed with a perfect headshot.... and all before i could get my second shot away.

Don't think i'll ever forget that cheeser and i'm glad it was me that it happened to.

My average on the colour test appears to be 0.23 - 0.24s

Because it tests your reaction speed to taking reaction speed tests.
