Sue your college for unemployment woes?

Alumna sues college because she hasn't found a job - CNN.com

2.7 and good attendance...hmmmm....didn't anyone explain to her that businesses are hiring above their requirements because there's so much unemployment that they can pick and chose...and a 2.7 average isn't so great? I hope she gets ripped apart over this suit. And honestly, I really really think that if you sue and lose the case, that you should pay the US Government for wasting the time of the courts.

How about paying the person or company you sued? It cost a lot to defend yourself from a frivolous lawsuit.

Ooops, sorry, didn't states that very well. I meant pay the court costs which would cover the lawyers and what not for the defendant in this case.

Gosh, she hasn't gotten a job in three months, during the worst economic climate since the Great Depression ...on the bright side, if her lawsuit fails and the loss drives her to eating McDonalds' burgers and getting fat, maybe she can sue them and live on the cheap that way. Or we could just stone her in public.

Maybe they just don't want to hire a litigious bitch?

              Ummm... Excuse me?
One of the hardest places in the country to FIND a job,
and a pitiful GPA. Why WOULD a company take her or even consider her application over a 4.0 GPA student?

College can "Assist" them in finding a position, but no guarantee's. You can't MAKE a propective employer interview a just graduated student. That's just Stupid.

Job Fairs? Something? Or just sitting on her duff waiting for someone to see how wonderful she is? For a supposed full time student, she sure didn't WOW the world with her grades.

It is frivilous lawsuits like this that clog up the court systems. Maybe she is hoping the college will throw money at her to dismiss the case?

If I was moved into the recruiting/hiring portion of my company, she would be the LAST person I'd want on my team.

Ok, first I have no problem with GPA, matter of fact, when I participate in an interview I ignore GPA cause it's BS.

Second, this ignorant person sueing because she can't get a job is the primary reason this country is going down the crapper. It's people like this that are killing this country. They are dead wait and need to either leave the country or leave the planet, I really don't care which.

Well all I have to say is this is america, people sued McDonalds because their coffee was to hot and they burnt themselves on it. Or I forget who but there was a local burglar that broke his leg robbing a house and sued the houses owner, and won.

Amen brother, the only place in the world idiots can sue for putting a cup of coffee in their lap or because they didn't kill a sorry bastard for breaking in.

You should really check up on the story of the woman that sued McDonald's and won. She went through the drive in. She was in her seventies. They did not put the lid on securely. They let go of the cup before she had a secure hold on it. Because she was in an automobile, with a seatbelt on, she could not get out of the car. She had 3rd degree burns over 40% of her body. Now if you were on the jury who would you have thought was responsible for her situation?

                              I have!
                              1. She was 79
                              2. It was not a lose lid as rumored.
                              3. She was a passenger, her grand son was driving
                              4. She wanted to add something to her coffee(e.g. cream)
                              5. The grandson parked the car so she could add it
                              6. She put it in her lap
                              7. She pulled the lid off while holding the coffee between her legs in the passeanger seat.
                              8. The resulting burns were 6% of her skin in the thighs, groin and buttocks area.

                              My Take on it:
Since the grandson handed the coffee to her I guess he didn't have enough sensation in his hands to know it was hot as hell and also didn't feel the need to help her by putting the additive in the coffee for her. So instead of doing the proper thing for his grandmother and add the item himself AND feeling the coffee was way to hot for drinking then allowed her to continue with the intention of immediately drinking the coffee after adding what she wanted.
After handing the cup off coffee to my granny I would not allow her to add the stuff to it, I would have done it for her and hopefully not in my lap. Plus I would not allow her to drink it without cooling it off a little in the drink holder as it sat on the floor board or in the cars drink holder.
Don't get me wrong, I am torn on her injury, but I stand by my statement and it was human error that could have been avoided using common sense and senses.
McDonald was in the wrong by having their coffee too hot (180F +-5F) and it's unfortunate that actually the only way to get McDonalds to change that policy was for this to happen. Then on the other hand I believe it might could have been handled thru a civil suit that is if she hadn't been burned so bad.
