    Manipulative Sales Tactics

I love it when I go to a website and, when you make an initial purchase, they try to fool you into adding other crap onto your purchase, in some cases, like a magazine subscription or other crap you DON'T NEED!

What they LIKE to do, is try to catch you NOT thinking or perhaps you were tired when you placed the order they can fool you into getting it.

For example...makethe "No I don't want this in REALLY TINY FONT" and the "YES ILL TAKE IT" in real BIG FONT!!

Sometimes the wording such as that you won't get your product, unless you go along with the additional deal.

Then you "Click" YES, when you should have clicked "No", Ooops, you just ordered additional crap you didn't mean to, and now your stuck.

One time I ordered a video game from EB Games, and they pulled this crap when I tried to conclude my order, I thought it was a "submit" button for my order, but turned out it was a "SUBMIT" button for some other crap....my order was actually already placed, but I didn't know it.

Recently, I fell for the ol' "Free Shipping" crap, and when I went to place the order they had a whole line of shipping options.

The "We recommended this method of shipping" was already selected, which was 5.95 shipping, I had inadvertantly click "Submit", when I realized the "FREE SHIPPING" option was just ABOVE it, NOT clicked.

THey should have it so NOTHING is clicked.

So I have to call in and tell them to change my friggin order!!

    Anyone ever fell for this?

My personal pet peve is any service that you can sign up for online you should be able to cancel online. Any service that makes me call a service rep on the phone gets bad marks from me.

Yep have to read every online order carefully. I recently accidentally purchased over $1000.00 in stuff that I had in wish lists on Amazon. Apparently there is a box that can be checked for this. It was a HUGRE PITA to get things straight.

Report them to the FTC (Federal Trade Commision) But.....actually it IS legal, they just word it in a way that it's legal, but just enough to be deceitful.

I have just gotten used to people trying to trick me. I just got some airline tickets and there is a page after you click submit that has nothing to do with the tickets that come up. If you were in a hurry you would miss the "no thanks, continue" at the bottom of the page(which you have to scroll to see).

Same thing with how you cant seem to install anything these days without unchecking the toolbars and "helpers" that software is bundled with.

                  lol napster has that.

I had to pause my subscription back in april, they gave me a mths free sub, was perfect cos i just never had the ??? for it that month.

Sometimes these things have perks, but having the convenice of no calls would help

I'm not insane. I'm just overwhelming!
