Lol, +1. I used to hit them with M80s, gasoline, etc. when I was a lad...that was before they had PCs!
LOL, don't forget the gun powder from shotgun shells down the hole. Unfortunately that doesn't work for fire ant

It is very hard to kill a Fire Ant Colony. They actually have multiple queens and if you don't kill all of them the colony will survive.
I use a combination of Ortho Orthene and a bait. The Orthene is a white powder that does not have to be watered in. Sprinkle it over the mound and a feet feet around the mound.
Apache
+1 I use the stuff also but i found you may have to treat the mound twice before it dies off.
Ok, I got the Amdro today at Lowes. Apparently I wasn't the only one having problems. I had a nice chat with 4 elderly ladies at the fire ant bait section discussing the merits of which product to use...lol
Today is the first time the sun has been out in days. So I get my Amdro home and notice along the crack in my driveway pull-off, it looks like the San Andreas fault line. On either side of this crack which spans about 14 feet, they have started mounding dirt to eventually cover the crack where it meets the grass and there main home I assume. Right away I broke out the amdro pellets and sprinkled a few along the crack. Well, let me tell you, they started hauling that stuff in by the truck load! They were carrying pices twice their size and I even seen a few fighting for the same pice. I may post some pictures of this....can't you tell I'm easily amused.
All right, I'm uploading 3 videos to YouTube and will post the link when they are done. Here are a few more photos from today. As you'll see in the video, when I broke the mound apart, you can see Amdro in various places in their tunnels. I took a picture of the crack I mentioned earlier...you can see how the dirt is building up on either side. The Amdro is the little yellow pieces and the white specks you see in some of the video are ant eggs.
Mostly playing good ol CoD BO6 on the PS5 (old habits die hard), I'll dabble into a little bit of Fallout 4. But I'm pretty much a weekend warrior, my...
