Flashback !! Geocities closing its doors today

Once the third most visited domain name, Yahoo Geocities is closing its doors effective today.

Wow, talk about old skool. It was cool 10+ years ago, but has now become a cesspool of forgotten amateur pages and HTML coding. I sorta think I had a page a looong time ago, but it soon fell by the wayside as I moved on to better hosting with more to offer and no banner ads.

I know I had at least one site on there long long ago, kinda sad to see these things pass, but Geocities always was trash, lol.

Data miners will be looking elsewhere I assume. Lord knows there are plenty of alternatives these days. Nobody values internet privacy at all anymore.

I used to have a Geocities account... All I remember that it was in /timesquare/arcade/ lol I learn my early HTML back in the day. I started as a Sega Saturn fan site and moved on to Duke Nukem 3d fan site. I think back in the day it was 2 MB of space with no bandwidth limit and things changed over the years. It was one of the best at the time cause other "free" sites offered 100 Kb of free space to 1mb. I looked back at some site and man some of those gif's are primitive lol. I had the webrings and everything lol

Talk about a blast from the past!

I had created my first webpage and hosted it there, don't remember the address though.

But it was for the original Diablo when my wife (then girlfriend) and I ran a guild. Guild of the Serpent's Eye it was called. LOL

Then made another one for a UO guild. Learning HTML by trial and error. Managed to make an online form to sign up and everything.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

Ahhh i remember Geocities. The one domain you could pretty much guarantee you'd get a 404 error from when clicking the link.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
